If you’ve been entertaining the idea of creating a course then you might have found yourself asking the question… “What type of course should I create?” Well my friend, that’s exactly what we’re going to be talking about today….
Before we get started, if you haven’t read my post on Why a Digital Course is the Best Online Business Model check it out here. It will break down all the doubts and fears you have about whether or not this is a good move.
And trust me girl, it is! Like I said in my previous post, it’s one of the most profitable and scaleable methods, without having to trade all your time for money. Can I get a hell yeahhhh!
Ok so let’s talk about the types of digital courses you could create.
The 5 Types of Digital Courses
Workshop Course
This is the very first type of course you could create if you’re just wanting to test the waters. It’s generally a 2-hourish workshop digging deep into one specific topic and promising instant clarity and results.
Kinda like a webinar, but people pay you for it so they’re more likely to take action and get results.
Starter Course
This is the jumping off point where you help your students get started in your area of expertise.
It will give just enough information and support to kickstart some momentum for them.
Spotlight Course
This type of course allows you to dig a little deeper and offer a highly specific result. It’s generally ultra-niched and focuses on one main area.
Offering specific and detailed information typically via a step-by-step framework.
Signature Course
This is your complete comprehensive system and the most in depth course you could create (aside from a certification course).
It’s a much more specific and detailed course and includes your entire framework from start to finish. And it can lead to a total transformation for your students.
Certification Course
This is as in depth as it gets. You’re basically teaching others your methodology or process in such a detailed way that they’ll be able to teach others or use their newly acquired skills in their own businesses.
For example, this year I went to a 5 day course to become a personal stylist. After that course I received a certificate and I’m now certified. Online there’s many courses to get you certified as a life coach and things like that.
What type of course should you create?
So you’re probably thinking, ok Jade you’ve told me what types of courses there are, but that still doesn’t tell me what type of course I should create.
Don’t you worry about that, I’ve got you totally covered.
The thing with courses is that everyone is at different stages of their online business journey so there’s no way I can sit here and say THIS is the one type of course you should create, because the answer will be different for everybody.
But what I can do is share this super fun quiz with you. It takes you through a series of questions to determine how ready you are to dive into creating a course and which type is right for you.
