And his commentary said: “I love my feminine ladies but THIS is such a half-truth and it’s why a lot of you guys are disorganised and broke.”

It’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately as I’ve been living back in the city. After a few years of moving through various spiritual circles between Sunshine Coast, Byron Bay and Bali, it feels great to have a nice injection of city “get shit done” energy.

I’ve done the pendulum swing. I transitioned from the corporate grind, where pushing to the limits, overworking, and burning out were the norms. From that into the online working world. Initially, I carried the same approach and energy into my affiliate marketing business. I was surrounded by extremely successful people who championed the hustle mentality: work hard, don’t sleep, and sacrifice now to enjoy your dream life later. For a time, this philosophy seemed effective, but eventually, that business crumbled.

This experience led me into a spiritual journey—a world of trust, mystery, and flow. Here, I was immersed in a realm of processing, being present, and simply existing. Everyone around me lived in the moment, savouring the beauty and magic life offers, yet there was little action. While this was great for connection and creating wonderful life experiences, it fell short in advancing business goals. The emphasis was on processing emotions, navigating chaos, and engaging in lengthy conversations, with few focusing on making money. Most were getting by, but hardly anyone considered legacy wealth or future building.

Moving Beyond the Spiritual Bubble

My journey out of the “spiritual bubble” underscored the necessity of blending these energies. Especially as I started travelling and seeing the world again. While deeply valuing the feminine aspect of being, I now recognise that achieving tangible goals, like financial freedom, also requires the application of masculine energy. This realisation has led me to appreciate the power of working diligently and setting up efficient systems while still honouring my innate desire for freedom and creativity.

Building systems and automating processes are seen as masculine traits, emphasising structure, logic, and action. These systems are vital for creating a business that can operate on autopilot. And in creating that, it allows space to surrender into the freedom and flexibility that many associate with feminine energy. Without being embedded in the chaos and instability of wondering where your next pay cheque is coming from. My experience with affiliate marketing showed me that achieving a business that runs itself is possible—but it requires initial effort and a strategic approach.

Hustling with Heart

The hustle is often glorified in business culture, but it’s the intention behind our actions that truly matters. Integrating feminine energy into our hustle means we’re not just working hard; we’re working with purpose, intuition, and a sense of joy. It’s about showing up for the work we love and are passionate about, which naturally aligns with our goals and values.

I don’t see it as “hustling” so much as being so devoted to something that I love doing. Which is also going to provide me with everything I desire. My hustle is balanced with lots of delicious sunshine and nature time. And my work is about cultivating community and connection and spreading messages I’m passionate about.

Financial Freedom as a Goal

Achieving financial freedom is a common goal, yet it eludes many who reject the structured, disciplined approach often required to attain it. We see a lot of corporate workers and entrepreneurs who live and breathe the hustle. They have made all the money. But they’re still not happy. Something is lacking because they’re not connected to a deeper purpose and meaning behind why they’re chasing money. This was my reality when I was working in the corporate world.

Then we see a lot of people who have the connection, meaning and time freedom. But they don’t always have the money to support the lifestyle they truly desire. This is the category I’ve found myself falling into in more recent years.

Embracing both masculine and feminine energies means recognising that freedom comes from a balance—putting in the effort to create systems that eventually allow us to reap rewards with ease and grace.

But What Is Financial Freedom?

When I speak about financial freedom, I’m not obsessed with hoarding millions of dollars in the bank. I’m also not attached to fancy cars or big houses filled with stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I love luxury. But I would rather travel around and spend time in other people’s beautiful homes. This way I get a taste of life in all different places.

What it means to me, is the freedom to not be stuck in an office, to be able to work from cute cafes close to the beach, so I can enjoy the delicious summer days. One of my biggest frustrations when I was working in the corporate world was wasting so many beautiful days stuck in an ugly, freezing, airconditioned office shut off from the outside world.

The other vital piece is travel. Not just going to tourist hot spots. But meeting lands I feel called to, getting to spend significant time there being immersed in local culture and traditions. Having a business that supports this nomadic lifestyle is my biggest drive.

Let me be by the ocean every day for the rest of my life… Melting in music and poetry, ritual and art. Because I’ve leveraged systems and technology to build a thriving business. That allows me to explore new and vibrant lands. Immersing myself in learning new cultures and languages. That’s my heart’s calling.
