Well well, where do I begin?

First post…. new site. So I’m basically talking to myself right now. But I feel a new blog requires at least a little introduction so that’s where I’ll start.

Hey there, my name’s Jade (you can read a little about me on my about page if you like)

But here’s a little rundown of how this website came to be…

Basically I’ve always loved travel. This passion started young, as my parents took me to Europe at the ripe age of 2. And from that moment I believe an unquenchable desire to travel the world was born.

But as I grew up it became apparent I couldn’t rely on my parents to fund my travels forever.

So I did the normal thing. Got that high school job and saved up for my first solo trip on a gap year straight after high school.

After that trip I knew travel had to be a constant part of my life. But it was time to do what society wanted me to. Go to uni and study for a good job. So I decided to study journalism with hopes and dreams of becoming a travel writer.

It was at this time that I also landed my first 9-5 job at a bank. I got a taste of what it was like to earn good money and my love for fashion quickly grew.

I had a permanent subscription to Vogue magazine and as well as being a travel writer I dreamt of writing for a fashion magazine just like Vogue.

I did a brief internship for a local online fashion magazine and all my submissions for our uni newspaper were about the Perth fashion show. I had no interest in reporting on hard hitting news.

And once I finished uni I realised actually getting a job in the Journalism industry was near on impossible. There was only 2 positions going at the one main newspaper in WA and hundreds of students competing. I didn’t even bother applying because I knew I didn’t want to write about the news. The other option was to go work in a remote location but I had no interest in that either.

By this point I had become quite used to the lavish lifestyle only my banking job could afford me, and I didn’t really want to go start back at the bottom writing about things that didn’t interest me. So I put my dreams on hold.

When I spoke to my uni friends who were working in the bottom ranks – rural newspapers, community newspapers and the like. I realised maybe this path wasn’t for me. Every now and then I’d look at internships in fashion magazines in other countries.

But there was always something that held me back. Fear of course.

I’d become trapped in the corporate ladder climb and I didn’t know if I was prepared to let all that go.

So blinded by corporate perks, a 6 figure salary, winning awards, free holidays, a stellar wardrobe, and attending more fancy functions than I ever imagined… I convinced myself this was what I wanted out of life.

Until I was sitting on my bedroom floor crying and unable to bring myself to get dressed to face another day at work.

Because this wasn’t my dream. And after 10 years of climbing it all came crashing down. I reached a point where I just couldn’t pretend anymore. I needed to be travelling, I needed to be spending my time with people that actually mattered to me. Not pasting on a fake smile to keep my clients happy.

You see, all the corporate perks and money mean nothing when you don’t have any time to do what you love. In our consumer driven lives stress is more prevalent than ever so people turn to their phones in hope of finding a small bit of solace.

And after spending countless hours scrolling through social media (I know you’ve done that too…)  I came across a post that made me take action.

A girl I’d been following had just quit her job and moved to Mexico. I knew THIS was what I needed to be doing so I reached out to her to find out how she had done it. And she introduced me to an entire group of people who were living these amazing lives as well.

So at that moment I had a choice. Continue living this life that wasn’t fulfilling me, or embrace the knowledge she was sharing with me and learn how to create location independence for myself. Naturally, I decided to take a bet on myself. I invested in courses, became obsessed with personal development, and flew all over the world for events. And I met people that were living a way of life I never dreamed possible. And the real kicker, they were normal people, just like me!

That’s when the Aussie Adventuress was born. What started as just a hobby blog turned into so much more. From a passion for writing and wanting to share my love of travel, was born a fully fledged online business. 6 months after starting I quit my job and took my chances at making the online thing work full time. I was terrified at the time, but it turns out this was the best decision I ever made!

Like anything in life, there’s been moments where I’ve questioned everything. Months where I didn’t know if I was going to earn enough to make ends meet. But entrepreneurship is about persistence and perseverance and the fighter in me always finds a way to make things work.

Over the years I have established a strong brand on social media which has enabled me to not only create a full time income but also secure many influencer deals.

But after 3 years of this I’ve decided to shake things up and move in a new direction.

Last year was when I really decided to up my game and take my brand seriously. I bought courses, went to lots of events and workshops, and even invested in a personal branding photographer. And it was through that experience that I really realised my full potential.

By simply having photos that oozed my real personality I was able to feel 100 times more confident about myself and my abilities. And other people started to recognise that as well.

Once I up-levelled my brand I instantly attracted much greater opportunities.

I was asked to create my own course on branding, invited to speak at international events, got better quality deals as a travel influencer. And my favourite to date is being invited to work with the same branding photographer who took my photos last year.

I am now working alongside her to educate her clients on how to use their branding images on social media. And that led me to also enrol in a personal styling course which I will be completing in June.

So that brings us up to speed. It was time to get out of the affiliate marketing space and really create something that’s my own.

Through building my own brand, I realised this is an area I am super passionate about and after having many people tell me I should make my course public. I decided it was time to go one bigger and do more than just release a branding course, but actually offer a full personal branding service.

Which is where the personal styling course comes in. I’ve always been passionate about style and I absolutely love working with social media. So by combining these two passions I can cover all the areas that go into creating a magnetic personal brand.

I am here to help people realise their potential through strong and strategic personal branding.

So that’s my new direction.

I do know a thing or to about business and my main goal with this blog and website is to impart all that wisdom and learning on to you. So if you’ve stumbled into my world, firstly thank you and welcome.

I look forward to helping you create a brand and life you love.
