The Real Reason Visionary Leaders Need Better Systems

I used to think talking about systems made my work less interesting. But after years of watching visionary entrepreneurs burn out under messy backends, I realised something: good systems are what create freedom, sustainability, and long-term impact.

I Thought Systems Were Too Boring to Be Known For

I stopped talking about my work with systems because I thought it was boring.

I love doing it, and I could genuinely talk about this stuff for hours with someone else whose mind ticks like mine.

When I meet people who froth over this stuff too.. I want to hold on and never let them leaveee.

It feels like we’re a rare breed in this online world where everyone wants to be a coach and be seen. Everyone wants to be the face, the star, the woman of the hour..

No one wants to be tucked away behind the scenes. It’s something I’ve been unpacking for years.

There’s parts of me that also want elements of that. The notoriety. The name everyone refers to.

But I was battling.. because systems felt like such a boring thing to be known for.

I Kept Pulling Away From My Work

So every time I would gain a little traction, I would sabotage. I’d go back to talking about my passions instead — the magic, the creativity, the sexuality, the travel, the freedom… the lifestyle — everything I value.

This stuff made me relatable. It inspired people. It ended up with a lot of people saying I wish I could live the way you do.. (side note, you can if you want to!)

Which confused me and made me think.. oh maybeee I should be coaching people. But it never felt like the true path for me.

I’ve looped in self enquiry… asked if I’m hiding. If I’m not truly owning my gifts. If I’m playing small.

I was playing small, but not in the ways I thought. It’s not “being behind the scenes” that is small..

It was my inability to see just how valuable this work is.

Therefore undercharging and staying in rooms I’d outgrown.

I thought I had to choose. Only ever talk about business and systems. Remove my personality from the equation.

And that’s whyyy I always ended up fighting it. I didn’t want to create a cage. Not when freedom, creativity, magic, and expression are such vital parts of my message.

I convinced myself no one cares about systems… especially not the people who need them most.

They’d rather go to another retreat, or sit in another medicine ceremony, or do anything other than look at the backend of their business.

Hellooo, I know cos I’ve been there too.

The Hidden Cost of Ignoring Your Business Systems

But that’s exactly why I do need to talk about this stuff. Because it is needed by soooo many!!! And it’s good systems that actually support us to have more freedom.

I’ve watched so many brilliant people crumble under the weight of their business because it’s so dependent on them to do everything.

Sooo much mess in the backend that stops them from truly stepping up and serving in the ways they know they’re capable.

You think you don’t have time to look at your systems cos you’re too busy trying to hold everything all together… but the longer you ignore them.. the worse it gets until eventually you burn out and maybe wanna burn it all down.

It doesn’t have to get to that…

As someone who has done just that, I can tell you firsthand, the drive for business never dies.

When you have a calling, a purpose, a mission, it doesn’t just go away.

It will gnaw and gnaw until you can’t ignore it anymore. And then you’ll feel the pain and frustration of having to start again... wondering why you didn’t just stick it out.

I don’t want it to get to that for you. Not when I know exactly how it can be avoided.

Take the time to get the foundations right. Build systems and processes that will future proof your business.

That will hold you as you grow. That aren’t just reacting to the now, but actually planning ahead for where your vision wants to expand you.

I didn’t need to abandon ship, walk away from what I’m good at, or stop offering my services.

I just had to look at all the ways I’d been operating out of alignment. All the ways I’d pedestaled coaches and made out like they’re the superior ones in this space.

Some of it was because of things that have been said to me by past clients.

Things I took on as my own beliefs. Because I hadn’t done hundreds of hours of embodiment.. or learnt about a million therapy and somatic modalities.

I hadn’t sat through a thousand medicine ceremonies. Or guided hundreds of people through their own healing journeys.

And somehow I distorted all of that to mean my work is less valuable.

Vision Alone Cannot Sustain a Business

I internalised their beliefs, and diminished my own achievements. I don’t need to be qualified in those things.

Because that’s not what I’m here to serve.

And me being good at what I do, is what enables a lot of these facilitators to reach more people... to actually stay in their lane and transmit the potency of their work.

So in my own way I am contributing to these messages having bigger impact.

But I looped and spiralled and thought I just needed to keep healing, seek out qualifications, so I could become like them.

I ignored the countless hours of study I’ve done to be really good at what I do. The thousands I’ve invested in becoming a master at my craft.

Because that somehow felt worthless in comparison.

I was devaluing myself and my work and then resenting everyone else for it. When really, I have my own genius.

A rare gift, that when seen by the right people, means we can create real harmonious business.

Because a business can’t run on vision alone and a coach can only get so far without good systems.. it’s the classic visionary & integrator role… a well functioning business needs both!!
