Systems Are How I Create Magic & Build Worlds in Business
Most people think systems are about efficiency. I think they’re about immersion. About worldbuilding. About creating an experience people can step into, feel held by, and move through with trust.
The Myth of "Boring Systems"
Whenever I start to get stuck in stories about how systems are boring and people aren’t interested in what I have to say, I pull it back and I think about what’s the deeper message I’m actually trying to convey.
Cos most of the time I’m not even really talking about systems. I’m talking about creating worlds.
Speaking systems is the technical business term, it’s how I can tell people what I do in simple language.
But what I do can’t always be explained in simple language.
It’s more a feeling. And until you start working with me and experiencing my approach, you likely won’t really get it.
Yesterday I did a live with the intention of speaking about how I’ve been building my own systems and foundations as I prepare for my time in Europe.
I went on all kinds of tangents – Italy, ancestry, roots, raves, forests, content creation, identity – and how this all connects to my approach to systems.
What I’m Really Building When I Build Systems
You see, most people think systems are just about efficiency. And obviously that’s a big part of it. They reduce a lot of manual handling, create better experiences for you and your clients, and open up more space for you to focus on the things you actually want to be doing.
But beyond that, they’re really about immersion.
When you come to me, you’re not just getting some corporate systems girl. You’re getting a witchy, magical, mermaidy, raver, with Italian roots. You’re getting all these other aspects.
You're getting someone who thinks about archetypes while building automations. Someone who reads books about mycelial networks and then starts seeing business differently. Someone who has spent years on dance floors thinking about immersion and experience. Someone who travels halfway across the world because a place stirs something ancient inside.
And that’s what forms my approach to systems, the way I experience systems, and the way I create systems. I’m not just ticking things off a box. I’m creating a whole world people step into and unlocking this magical journey that your work gets to take people on.
I approach life with whimsy and magic. Everything I do – even from the most boring, mundane daily tasks… feels like going on a magical journey and stepping into a mystical world.
Systems as Portals, Not Processes
When I go to the sauna, I’m not just sitting in a hot room. I’m stepping into a portal that allows me space to shut out the noise of the outside world, it invites presence and connection.
When I go to a cafe, I’m stepping into an environment that evokes senses that channel the writer in me. I enter a slipstream and the writer comes alive.
When I go to a rave, I’m being taken on a journey through the music… with the vibrations pulsing through the speakers I’m receiving downloads and somatically releasing. It’s a journey, a world created that is a super immersive experience.
When I’m out in nature, it’s the same thing. I’m so present and immersed in this world that is there. I’m noticing patterns in the trees, the plants, the water… connecting to the sounds. Feeling different sensations.
The thing all of these experiences have in common is that they're immersive. Everything is intentional - contributing to an experience that makes me want to stay, invites me deeper, stirs certain feelings within.
Designing a Client Journey That Feels Like a World
When I go into somebody’s business, that’s what I want to feel. If I don’t feel immersed in their world, if I don’t sense I’m being taken on a journey, then usually they’ve lost me.
So that’s the approach I bring to systems.
And that’s where the magic comes in. It’s about creating this really devotional, beautiful experience where people feel nurtured every step of the way. They feel like they’re really taken care of and supported from the moment they land in your world. They feel welcomed and held. They can see a pathway and whilst they may not be able to see exactly where it leads, they can step in and trust it’s going to take them somewhere magical.
I want them to feel like everywhere they look there’s something new to notice, new layers being added. And it’s that level of whimsy and mystery that keeps them wandering deeper into your world.
When someone enters your world, what happens?
Do they feel held?
Do they know where to go?
Do they know what you stand for?
Do they know what journey they're being invited into?
Or are they wandering through disconnected pages, broken links and half-finished ideas trying to work out who you are?
When I build systems, I'm not thinking about automations, checklists, and backend dashboards. I'm thinking about worldbuilding. I'm thinking about creating a journey. One that invites people to keep walking because around every corner there's something else waiting to be discovered.
Like following a forest path. Like being carried through a set by a DJ. Like uncovering another hidden room inside a beautiful old building.
That's the role systems play in my work.
Supporting humanity, creating space for connection, making business feel magical.
