Why it’s Important to Optimise Your Landing Pages for Mobile

In today’s fast-paced digital world, having a mobile-optimised landing page is not just a luxury—it’s a necessity. Over half of global web traffic comes from mobile devices. This highlights the crucial need to tailor your online presence for a mobile audience. Let’s dive into why optimising your landing pages for mobile is crucial for your business success.

As you can see from these statistics 50% of website traffic comes from mobile devices. When it comes to buyer habits, more than 60% of e-commerce traffic comes from mobile users.

Why Your Website Should Be Optimised for Mobile

So if such a high percentage of people are consuming and purchasing content through their phones, your pages must be optimised to give the user a great experience. This means, that when it comes to choosing the right tools for creating your websites and landing pages, it’s important to consider whether or not they have responsive designs and the capability to edit for different user experiences.

Mobile optimisation ensures that visitors accessing your site from mobile devices have a seamless, user-friendly experience. This is crucial because a positive mobile experience can significantly increase engagement rates, improve brand perception, and boost conversion rates. Mobile users expect quick, accessible information. If your site doesn’t deliver, you risk losing potential customers to competitors who do.

The Importance of Landing Page Optimisation

A landing page serves as the entry point for a website or a specific section of a site. Its design focuses on encouraging visitors to take action. Actions could be subscribing to a newsletter, downloading a guide, or making a purchase. Optimising these pages is vital because they directly impact conversion rates. A well-optimised landing page can effectively guide visitors toward the desired action, significantly increasing the likelihood of conversion.

According to research, one of the top reasons for people to leave a site is if it’s non-responsive. So if you haven’t put in the effort to optimise your pages you instantly run the risk of losing 73.1% of your potential audience.

The True Purpose of Mobile Landing Page

The core purpose of a mobile landing page is to facilitate a smooth and efficient user journey tailored to mobile users. It’s about crafting an environment that allows for actions to be completed effortlessly and efficiently. This user-centric approach not only enhances user satisfaction. It also drives higher conversion rates by aligning with the unique behaviours and needs of mobile users.

Making Your Landing Page Mobile Friendly

Creating a mobile-friendly landing page involves several key elements:

  • Responsive Design: Ensure your landing page automatically adjusts to fit the screen size and resolution of any device.
  • Fast Loading Times: Mobile users are often on the go. Your page needs to load quickly to maintain their attention.
  • Simplified Content: Keep content concise and to the point, with clear calls-to-action (CTAs).
  • Easy Navigation: Design your page with thumb-friendly navigation to enhance the user experience.

Implementing these elements can dramatically improve the mobile user experience, leading to higher engagement and conversion rates.

Thankfully most platforms offer templates that are already optimised. So if you’re new to landing page and web design you can easily edit these templates with your content and create something that suits your needs.

Choosing the Right Platform For Your Landing Page

To optimise your landing pages for mobile, choosing the right platform is a vital element. Here are some of my favourites that I either use myself or with clients.

SHOWIT

This is the platform I’ve used to create this website. I love it because the site design is done through Showit, but it seamlessly integrates with WordPress for my blog. And in terms of being able to optimise my landing pages for mobile, this is one of the best!

I can toggle between mobile view, desktop view, or both views side by side.

I can opt for things to be visible on mobile only, desktop only, or both simply by ticking a box.

And the elements I do want visible on both, I can edit individually so they’re optimised for the device.

CLICKFUNNELS

I don’t use Clickfunnels anymore because I transitioned all my content to Kajabi’s all-in-one platform. But if I wasn’t using Kajabi, Clickfunnels would still be my number one choice for landing page and funnel creation.

It has incredible templates, responsive designs, and is created by marketers for marketers. Similar to Showit it also gives you the added option of adding or removing elements based on the device it’s going to be visible on. So you could have more content on your desktop version, and then have a shortened version for mobile.

LEADPAGES

Many of my clients use Leadpages and for good reason. It’s well priced, if they’re not hosting courses or don’t need a detailed website, then it’s a great option for creating pages to promote one time offers, live events, workshops etc.

Pages created in Leadpages are automatically responsive to mobile, however due to the layout it can sometimes come out skewed and images and words can be shown out of order. Especially if you have sections with columns.

Like the others, Leadpages also allows you to add/delete content based on platform. So what you could do in an instance where you want it to be viewed differently, is clone the section. Leave the desktop layout as it is, then edit the order of the mobile section so it will show up correctly on there.

SQUARESPACE

Squarespace is another platform I’ve used to create landing pages for many clients. While it’s mobile responsive and allows you to view how the page looks on each device, that’s as far as it goes. So when it comes to being able to edit and optimise for different devices you’re limited. But if you’ve already got your website in Squarespace then the benefit is that your landing pages can keep in line with your branding style and it saves you using another platform.

KAJABI

And of course there’s my beloved Kajabi. To be honest, if I wasn’t housing my courses in Kajabi, this wouldn’t be my first choice of platform for landing pages and websites. Like all the others, it’s automatically responsive and allows you to preview the content to make sure it works on all devices. But it has limitations on how much you can edit in terms of custom fonts and branding, unless you know CSS coding.

It does have more customisability than Squarespace as you can edit some elements to be specific for mobile. But there’s not as much freedom as Showit, Clickfunnels and Leadpages allow you.

So there you have it, all my top tips for how to optimise your landing pages for mobile based on various platforms. For those looking to optimise their online presence, my free Tech Witch Tools Spreadsheet offers a comprehensive list of tools and resources designed to streamline this process. I’ve even added notes as to which tools are mobile-responsive and to what extent.
