Let’s talk about why nature is good for your health.
We all lead busy lives and sometimes our schedules can get in the way of us really looking after ourselves. So today I wanted to send a little reminder of why nature is good for your health (and business).
This morning I wasn’t feeling the greatest, I mean even people who are working on their passions sometimes have bad days. You see, whilst there are many great benefits to working online, the journey towards the transition from corporate life, to digital nomad life, can be quite daunting at times.
So what does this have to do with nature and your health?
Because I wasn’t feeling great, I decided to take a break from everything and go down to the lake near our house. I sat there for a little while just watching the ducks. Listening to birds chirping, the trees blowing in the wind, admiring the blue sky and clouds. Just appreciating what was around me.
This simple act of being outdoors and mindful of my surroundings did wonders for my mood. I felt a lot more collected, calm and clear about what I need to do and where I want to be.
And if that’s not enough to convince you, here’s 5 reasons why nature is good for your health.
- It changes your brain for the better – when you spend time in nature electrochemical changes occur in your brain causing it to go into a relaxed, almost meditative state, so it instantly produces calming and beneficial results to your mental wellbeing.
- Vitamin D – have you noticed how much happier you are when the sun is shining? There’s a reason for this. Vitamin D is essential to prevent disease and infection so the more time you spend in the sunshine, the better you’ll feel.
- Healing properties – taking in the beauty of nature reduces stress levels and eliminates worry and anxiety. Not only that, but it also helps people who are recovering from physical injuries or illnesses.
- It keeps you fit – no brainer here. Being out in nature generally involves some sort of physical activity, whether it be hiking, cycling, swimming. And we all know being fit and active keeps you healthy.
- It increases happiness!
And there you have it, a list of reasons why nature is good for your health. So, when are you going to go outdoors?
Hope you have a great day, and here’s a video I shot while I was outdoors today.
Much Love
