I’m ready and I want to invite you to Reach the Peak with me.

This year I’m going to set a challenge to reach the peak in business and in life. In a few days I’m going to be starting a tour which will take me hiking and climbing through many different national parks – Monument Valley,  Grand Canyon, Death Valley, and Yosemite.

I’m so excited as I love exploring natural wonders and hiking is incredible for your health – of course it keeps you active and fit but it also does wonders for your mental wellbeing. I find being amongst nature and the fresh air is always so calming.

I also love the process I go through whenever I go on a hike. First wondering what I’ve gotten myself into, then giving myself a you-can-do-this pep talk, and then actually getting started. It’s always those first few steps that are the hardest, but once I start and the adrenalin kicks in, I get an incredible feeling that I can do anything (because I know I can). There’s always points that feel a lot more challenging than others, and there’s always points that feel really easy. I’ve learnt to love every point, maybe not at the exact time when I’m feeling challenged, but definitely afterwards.

You see if there’s no challenge then there’s no real sense of accomplishment, and the best part of any hike is when you reach the peak at the end and that feeling of achievement you get is always a major rush.

And this got me thinking, hiking and climbing can be pretty similar to running an online business…

Sometimes you’ll wonder what you’ve gotten yourself into, sometimes the challenges seem so big you won’t overcome them (but you always do), then other days a brainwave comes and you know exactly what you have to do and everything seems so easy. The path ahead can sometimes be unclear, but when you see that peak and start to visualise yourself reaching it, everything in that moment will always feel so right. And when you do eventually reach the peak it always feels so good.

When I sit and reflect on where I’m at now and where I was a few months ago, I will always choose the present version. Though the path ahead may involve challenges I’d much rather be conquering small mountains every day, than going back to an office cubicle ever again.

• I was tired of being at the bottom.
• I was tired of feeling inadequate.
• I was tired of not being true to my purpose.
• I was tired of just getting by.

I decided to change my path and hike a different trail. I decided to stop being at the bottom and choose something where I could reach the peak.
