It’s super important to take time out to enjoy the little things.

Something I’ve come to realise recently is how much happier I get over simple pleasures, when you stop and enjoy the little things you find yourself being far more appreciative of life.

  • watching the sun rise from my bedroom window
  • watching the sun set over the ocean
  • eating a delicious meal
  • having a great conversation
  • laughing
  • being outside
  • looking at the sky
  • buying a colourful bunch of flowers
  • reading a great book

The list goes on.

Why is this? I believe it’s because I have a sense of purpose again. I’m happier within myself so I’m enjoying everything I do a lot more because I’m doing more of what I love and spending less time on things that I don’t enjoy.

Like last night. A simple trip to the beach with my boyfriend and some of his friends was the perfect evening. We swam, we barbecued, we ate, we watched the sunset, we talked, we laughed. Nothing extraordinary. Just simple day to day activities but I was so happy.

The fact that it’s summer would also have something to do with it. As I said yesterday, I LOVE summer days. Sunshine just makes me happy. Days are longer, nights are warmer, there’s more time to go out and enjoy life because you don’t have to hibernate inside hiding from the cold, wet weather. Thankfully my city doesn’t have real winter for too long, but I still can’t bear it. I’ve always dreamt of chasing summer for the rest of my life, and I think knowing this dream is closer to becoming a reality also makes me a lot happier.

The point I’m getting at, is be mindful of every moment. Be fully present in everything you do and really savour those moments. Life is short and we do only get one shot so it is so important to do the things we love and things that make us happy.

And that’s why I wanted to remind you to enjoy the little things.

Go out and live your life the way you want to live it. If you’re working to fulfil someone else’s dreams, just STOP. It’s not worth it. When you look back on your life, make sure you can look back with pure joy, knowing that you did everything you wanted to do. Make a bucket list and share it with people. Keep referring back to it, I recently ticked off my first few items and the feeling was just incredible. Spend time on finding out what you want out of life, and once you know, don’t let anyone or anything hold you back.

I’ll see you on the beaches of the world.

Much Love.
